En route to the Sierra Nevada, our first stop was at the once opulent Madina Az-Zahra. This is a view from just inside the gates but it took two goes to get here.
We were meant to collect the tickets a few km down the valley from the ruins but only discovered that at the entrance to the site. I ran, drove, collected, drove and ran again before we were finally ready to discover this indulgence of Abd ar-Rahman III...
